Insulated Concrete Formwork

PolyBloks by PolySteel.

We are a UK based manufacturer supplying precision made, high strength ICF forms with metric dimensions that are suitable for all types of building project.

ICF Made Simple

Our ICF PolyBloks fit together easily onsite and can be installed by your Local Builder.

Rigid Forms

Steel ties and tongue & groove joints provide very rigid ICF forms that are easy to concrete.

Build it Fast!

Do not wait 3 or 4 months for a timber frame or bricklayers – the roof is on in weeks with ICF

Made in UK

Large stocks and UK manufacture ensures reliable delivery across the UK.

Why ICF.

What makes ICF Insulated Concrete Formwork better than traditional construction methods?

Airtightness.

The solid concrete core within ICF walls provides the primary barrier to airflow. The concrete provides an impermeable core that can only leak if the doors and windows are not properly sealed to it. Furthermore, the closed-cell EPS insulation is impermeable and significantly increases the airtightness of the structure.

Thermal Mass.

Insulated cement forms provide the Thermal Mass that regulates indoor temperatures by absorbing excess heat during the day and releasing stored heat at night. This moderates temperature fluctuations, maintains a more stable and comfortable indoor environment and reduces energy costs.

Fire resistance.

The solid concrete core in an ICF house creates an impenetrable shell. The EPS in the ICF forms will soften when exposed to high temperatures but does not burn and incorporates fire retardant additives. This is recognised by the high fire resistance ratings of Insulated Concrete Formwork walls.

Flood resilience.

ICF walls do not deteriorate when submerged in water. The EPS foam used in ICF forms is resistant to water absorption and does not degrade or lose its insulating properties when dried out. After a flood event, ICF walls dry quickly compared with timber that absorbs and retains moisture and is prone to mold and mildew.

Sound Insulation.

The solid concrete core of an ICF wall is a very dense material that blocks and absorbs sound waves. This reduces the transmission of noise between the indoor and outdoor environments.
The closed-cell structure of EPS helps to dampen and absorb sound vibrations, further enhancing the wall’s ability to reduce noise penetration.

Build Quality.

Attention to detail during the construction process (including sealing joints properly and correctly placing and bracing forms) will guarantee the quality and strength of walls made with insulated cement forms.
The use of ICF forms was approved in 2010 by the Council of Mortgage Lenders for mortgage purposes. ICF is approved by the NHBC for Insurance.

Longevity.

ICF buildings are resilient to moisture, insects, rot, mold, and fire. These factors all contribute to their longevity and so require less maintenance than traditional structures.
Insulated Concrete Formwork provides strong structural walls that can withstand extreme weather conditions, flooding and even earthquakes.

Cost.

Our ICF PolyBloks can normally be delivered from stock within 48 hours. Labour costs are reduced due to our PolyBlok’s simplicity which speeds up the build programme and can continue throughout winter. No specialist installers are required to use PolySteel ICF forms and so you can use your local tradesmen.

ICF Design & Installation

Why PolySteel.

The rigidity of our ICF forms, their simple installation and no need for complicated propping systems is why PolyBloks make ICF simple.

ICF Made Simple.

Our ICF PolyBloks are delivered ready made and do not require assembly unlike some other ICF forms which require complex kits and spare parts. The steel ties, precision tongue & groove jointing system and high tensile wire clips ensure simple and trouble free installation and concreting.

ICF Structures.

Our insulated cement forms can be used for almost any type of structure because ICF PolyBloks are so suitable to being reinforced. They can be formed into curved walls or used to provide spectacular cantilevers that Architects love to provide in modern eye-catching residences.

Reinforcement.

Our PolyBlok ICF is certified for the use of plain concrete, therefore reinforcement is not required to build a normal house. When reinforcement is necessary, the rigidity of these ICF insulated concrete forms makes them uniquely suitable for concrete compaction using a vibratory poker to remove any risk of voids being left that will allow corrosion of the steel bars.

Better than traditional methods.

Traditional construction such as timber frame and cavity walls have significant disadvantages that are easily overcome or completely avoidable when using insulated cement forms.

ICF Design.

Most architects and engineers are still unfamiliar on how to fully utilise the benefits of Insulated Concrete Formwork in project planning. The complexity of some ICF systems only makes this more difficult. Our ICF design services make full use of ICF advantages and ensure builders have all necessary information to quickly build and finish their projects.

Residential Buildings

ICF Insulated Concrete Formwork is ideal for novice & experienced builders. Buildings can be waterproofed within weeks, entire streets can be erected quickly and all ensuing trade visits completed sometimes in a single visit.

COMMERCIAL & AGRICULTURAL

Commercial, Industrial & Agricultural

ICF is ideal for the rapid construction of very economic buildings. In many instances the steel columns and their expensive foundations can be omitted and replaced with a few reinforcing bars in the insulated concrete form walls.

BASEMENTS & POOLS

Basements & Pools

Insulated cement forms are ideal for the design and construction of basements and basement swimming pools. The walls are easy to waterproof, quick to construct and do not need a team of highly skilled/costly tradesmen.

RETAINING WALLS & SMALL STRUCTURES

Retaining Walls & Garden Buildings

Insulated concrete form walls are ideal for the self-builder to construct garden offices, sound studios, garages, indoor swimming pools and retaining walls without the need for expensive bricklayers and carpenters

Why choose ICF?

Polysteel’s unique ICF system is simple and easy to use for any building project.
